On January 12, 2020, Taal Volcano erupted, covering towns in Batangas with thick ash for weeks. The sudden eruption forced thousands of residents to flee their homes, leaving behind their livelihoods and belongings.
The ashfall damaged farmlands, homes, businesses, and tourist spots. Agriculture, a main source of income, was badly affected. Many farmers lost their crops and animals, while local businesses shut down due to the destruction.
Even after the eruption, life remained difficult. Frequent aftershocks continued to shake the area, adding to the fear and uncertainty of the people. Despite these hardships, the community showed strength and resilience, helping each other to survive and slowly rebuild their lives.
